To appeal to a younger, more aesthetically oriented generation of customers, Alphabet Inc’s Google updated its search and maps products in a number of ways.
In the upcoming months, Google Maps will introduce a feature dubbed “neighbourhood vibe” that will allow users to choose any neighbourhood in the world and view popular spots nearby. The feature was announced at the company’s recent “Search On” event.
The search engine juggernaut claimed that the application will leverage its artificial intelligence technology to highlight local highlights as well as images, reviews, and other submissions from its community of millions of Maps users around the world. Within a year, users can browse material created by authors on the open web related to a specific location.
The business also updated the release schedule for innovations that were previewed at its May I/O developer conference.
When is the “search and maps” available?
In the coming months, users will be able to utilize its “live view” feature to use their live camera to find things nearby, like an ATM, as well as its photorealistic “immersive view,” which will allow users to explore and peek inside destinations like Oracle Park or the Eiffel Tower.
Google claimed it will include the capability to take a screenshot of a dish or an object and find it nearby in the upcoming months. It will also allow users to view translated text overlaid on the camera’s live view, such as on a menu in a different language while maintaining the integrity of the photos beneath.
