According to a Nokia announcement, Orange Egypt has decided to update its current Nokia SDM (subscriber data management) system in order to accommodate the operator’s subscriber growth over the following five years.
The SDM network has been improved, and part of that improvement includes a complete modernization of the system with new hardware and regular software updates. With the new system, Orange will be able to increase operational efficiency, better serve its subscribers’ changing capacity and service needs, and provide better dependability and security to its users.
Orange Egypt will get the following
One-NDS (Network Directory Server), Home Subscriber Server, Home Location Register, and 5G’s Unified Data Management and Authorization Server Function are all components of Nokia’s 3GPP-compliant SDM system. Orange will be able to handle subscriber data across various technology networks more effectively thanks to the components working together.
33 million subscribers are served
Around 33 million mobile and fixed Orange subscribers in Egypt are served by Nokia’s SDM system, which is installed across three different locations. This comprises users of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) with Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), Fixed Services, Data and Voice, and 2G, 3G, and 4G. The newly improved technology is compatible with the impending rollout of 5G services.
The updated, market-leading Nokia SDM solution will help us better meet the changing needs of our consumers, according to Orange’s Chief Technology Officer, Ayman Amiri. As we consolidate our customer base across several technologies and progress towards 5G, we look forward to using these advancements and building on our previous experience utilizing Nokia’s SDM solution.
